The Student Voice

The views of the pupils of The Ridings High School form an important part of the school’s self evaluation process.

One of the key ways in which students can express their views is through the various Year Councils and the whole school Student Voice.

Year Councils comprise of two representatives from each Tutor Group and they meet on a termly basis i.e. six times during a school year.

The Student Voice comprises of two representatives from each Year Group, and they meet at least one every second term. This year the Student Voice has been involved in work on:

Future projects will include work with The Connexions Service and Extended Schools.

Pupils are becoming increasingly involved in the interview process of new members of staff. They show candidates around the school and afterwards they complete an assessment of the candidate which forms part of the selection process.

An annual questionnaire of all pupils is also undertaken.

The Student Voice has grown in importance at The Ridings High School and will continue to do so. We continue to be impressed by the commitment of those who sit on the Student Voice and their views are always given serious consideration in school decision making.
