The Sixth Form

The Ridings High School has one of the largest and most successful Sixth Forms in the region. Our size and success means we are able to offer a wide range of courses to suit the needs of the vast majority of students who wish to continue their studies. These include traditional A Levels, the more recently introduced Applied A Levels, Industrial Benchmark IT qualifications, and, uniquely in the South West region, the International Baccalaureate. We were authorised to offer the IB Programme following successful accreditation in September 2006 and our first cohort of students have recently embarked on the programme. We see this as an important development which will complement our already considerable range of Post-16 courses.

The decision to continue your education beyond the age of 16 is an important one. It is essential that you receive sound advice and that you discuss the implications with your parents and your teachers.

No matter what course you follow, your time in the Sixth Form can be a memorable and extremely influential one. In some respects you will find the Sixth Form quite different from your present experience. You will become much more responsible for the organisation of your work and you will experience more freedom to develop your own interests. You will be expected to show initiative and to use your greater independence with maturity and imagination to achieve aims that you have decided on in consultation with us.

Whether you stay for one, two or even three years, your time with us will be enjoyable, challenging and productive.
