PRESS RELEASE

THE RIDINGS HIGH SCHOOL RECOGNISED FOR HIGH SPECIALIST ACHIEVEMENT

The Ridings High School has qualified for membership of all three of the Specialist Schools Trust Clubs for high achieving specialist schools –

  • The 70% Club, for specialist schools achieving 70% or more 5+ A* - C at GCSE in 2004

  • The Most Improved Schools Club, for specialist schools which have improved by 10 percentage points or more their 5+ A* - C GCSE results from 2001 to 2004

  • Value Added Schools Club, for specialist schools which have added value, in terms of GCSE results in 2004, of more than 10 percentage points between ‘actual’ %5+ A* - C (achieved at the end of Year 11) and that predicted from the school’s KS2 average point score in 1999 (entry in Year7).

This is a tremendous achievement because just 67 specialist schools out of the 1,360 in operation last summer, have been awarded this status.

Dr Gibson, Head at The Ridings High School said, “This is a tremendous achievement and is a huge recognition of the hard work invested by students and staff working at the school.”

Mr P Lobb, Assistant Headteacher at The Ridings High School said, “It is a privilege to be among a handful of schools to receive this recognition and all staff and students should be praised for their achievements.”
