Report to the Governors on the progress of IB

Background to International Education at The Ridings High School

The school’s recent active and wide participation in International Educational (IE) opportunities has developed over the last few years from one off and isolated activities such as “Europe Day” to a situation where now the school is recognised within the LEA and by organisations such as The International Education office, British Council, BECTA and Global-Leap as an innovator of IE opportunities including how to implement these effectively. The Ridings High School still has much to do with regards to IE but there are many important pieces in place such as the school’s reputation in the use of video conferencing and its success in Comenius bids, the International Baccalaureate and the International school award.

The Ridings High School is proud of the way the profile of International Educational has been raised over the last few years with increasing momentum to position the school where effective global citizenship and innovation using ICT are being increasingly developed and delivered across the Key Stages and curriculum. In 2006 the school was in the “Good Schools Guide” for best results nationally in AS European Studies and aims to use the International Baccalaureate to continue the development of international education.
