Transition to Secondary School

In May 2008 local feeder primary schools are visited by the Head of Year 7 and Deputy Head of Year 7 to talk to Year 6 pupils about their move to The Ridings High School.

At this visit pupils are shown a video entitled “moving up”, produced by Year 7 pupils at The Ridings High School, which explains to prospective pupils a day in the life of a pupil at secondary school.

Prospective pupils are provided with a New Intake Booklet explaining everything they will need to do to prepare them for September. They are also given letters to take home to parents explaining about Summer School and Induction Day, a copy of which will be available on-line in June.

Pupils who do not attend one of the local primary schools are given the opportunity to visit the school, watch the video and talk to the Head of Year 7. These pupils and parents will be invited by the school at a date in June. If you do not hear from us, and you have been allocated a place, please do not hesitate to contact us.
